Some nice US 8th Airforce finds 30/1/11

Looks like the housing of an aircraft microswitch - they weren't very "micro" in those days! I found a complete one on B-24 crash site locally, but gave it to a relative of one of the crew, because it had a nice plate on it! - probably a standard item fitted to many aircraft.

Showing 50mm damage to the rudder aug 10th 1943. ( friendly fire)

I managed to get out for a prod around today. These are some straight out the ground photos.

Another old spice bottle. Not so long ago I was busting to find one now I think I have 5 but they are all talcum bottles so I need to keep digging for the aftershave one.

A very small piece of ammunition tracking.

What's left of a machete.

And the best find of the day was this control lever. ( not sure of its function yet )

The Machete looks like the folding version from the survival kit.

Yeah that's right. Surprisingly we have found loads of these, not just at this site but 2 or 3 other dumps have allso produced them. Allways seemed strange to me.

Ha. I just need a couple more bits. :-)
The baseball and the bat you can just see in the corner near the flak helmet came from a baseball game held in Gosfield park 410th bomb group. Against the village. The next weekend they played cricket against the village. The bat and ball were given to a child in the village called Ted owers and I got it when he died a couple of years ago. It's a Louisiana slogger.
