Sometimes my wife just can't see why I spend 8 hours digging when I could be helping in the garden. She just doesn't see what these 'finds' are and what useful purpose they serve. Unfortunately, sometimes I have to agree with her! Spent over 18 months coaxing a farmer to let me on to an old ww2 grass strip just a mile from home. Glider training school, occasional Spitfires housed there and usual blister hangars and accommodation. 18 months of schmoozing and this is all I found. Gutted.
