    Default Stalingrad bunker lantern

Here is a piece of WWII German field equipment that you don't often see. It's a carbide bunker lantern made mainly of Bakelite and some inner metal parts like brass.
This one came from a bunker in the Stalingrad area. I got it from a friend who goes to Stalingrad every summer to dig. He told me this the Number One souvenir of the
local Russian diggers. It's in remarkably good shape for it's age and background. It is marked Pres/AG 1940 in a hard to see area (see pics). I believe this lantern could be
used again if I knew how to use it. It uses carbide and water (I believe).

    Tks, Bob.

That is a great lantern Bob. One really big chunk of Bakelite! I'm suprised that lantern didn't get worn out by someone using it for light in their house post war. Very rare item over here in the states. Thanks for showing.

    Bob,

I lit mine last summer (camping in N Germany), It is the same as yours and I posted the pics and how to light it etc on here, I don't know how to link back to old threads but if you search you might find it.
