Great posts and pictures from everyone. Thank you! Does anyone dig near the Pitomnik and Morosowskaja airfield sites? I am looking for HE 111 information and relics. I hope to travel to Volgograd and take part in a battlefield tour and dig in the next few years. My wife has a distant relative whose father went missing during the Stalingrad Airlift. He flew HE 111s. I have been gathering as much information about him and his unit (Kampfgeschwader 55) as I can. Do people ever find Luftwaffe Flugbuchs or Soldbuchs over in Russia? Thanks for reading and thank you for any assistance. Feel free to contact me, if needed.

I dug near Oblivskaya, there was a large airfield.

But it's a good idea to come to Morosowskaja. But I need good maps and location scheme the airfield near the village of Morosowskaja.
I think the U.S. is not a problem to find it. There are many Luftwaffe archives.

Airfields and Air Base Locations KG 55

    14 Jul 1942 - 23 Aug 1942 = Airfield Kramatorskaja & Samorsk = Gruppe VIII. Fliegerkorps Aircraft Used He 111H
    23 Aug 1942 - 27 Dec 1943 = Airfield Morosowskaja
    27 Dec 1943 - 2 Jan 1943 = Airfield Saki
    2 Jan 1943 - 31 Jan 1943 = Airfield Nowotscherkask

also I found the box of the aircraft He 111H

we can cooperate in this matter. I like the history of the Luftwaffe in Stalingrad ...

    Thank you very much.
But I know this site since 2009. I think that it is best write to my e-mail. And here in this thread I'll summarize and talk about the sources of materials.

I must be honest that I have a lot of material about Stalingrad, but this information is little for use.

alas, but I can not get to the library of the U.S. Congress or Bundesarhiv. There really interesting documents.
