    This thread is monumental and it's always a pleasure to see what you uncover.

    Have you found helmets that are in relatively okay condition for ground dug helmets or is the soil there unforgiving? I've seen photos from an area near St. Petersburg, where helmets have been buried in clay and thus have retained a lot of their original paint.

    perhaps I did not understand your question correctly... But we found german helmets in good condition, but rarely.

    We became friends, and sometimes dig together in the vicinity of the city ...
