Very sad that there are people who feel the need to steal such historic items.

Man by that point that flak 38 was just barrel and carriage. All the other parts must of been taken a long time ago by souvenir hunters.

Either this piece has been sold for scrap. Or is in some oligarchs collection....

it's sad.......but how many of us would leave £20k+ of our collections outside by a road?

It shouldn't have to be that way....but the fact is it is. In an ideal world etc etc etc......we're not there any more.

    Hello,
This Flak gun is now on display in a big private collection, maybe european as going overseas with such a luggage is quite hard to do...
Who's to blame here....the stealers or the elected person (mayor or deputy) who does not give a damn about those things and decided to put the gun on display in an open area without anything to thwart all attemps to steal it ?

These guys who are supposed to represent the people in the towns or villages of Normandie know that these items are worth some money, they've seen many auctions in the past and they still put on display valuable vehicles or guns, like if they were praying for the stealers to help them to get rid of this crap.

Two years ago, some crazy guys tried to steal the Pak 40 on display at the Pass of Teghime in Corsica. They towed the gun for at least 3 kilometers before being stopped. One day someone will succeed...and it will be all over for ever...
    Thanks

...in my opinion, anyone who believes a piece like that can be safely preserved when it's exposed to the ravages of weather and time and children and thieves is living in a dream world.....get them all inside before it's too late!

...and yes, I've seen the Tiger and the Panther and and and ...and yes they're historic and yes they've been there for years and yes they're iconic.....but the amount they're rusting away is directly proportional to their increasing value.....and sadly that's what it's about....money. Museums are ditching exhibits in favour of video screens and push-buttons, books aren't bought or read....it's "snap, post'n'move-on" world with little appreciation (or respect) of value, investment, copyright, history etc etc (present company excluded...in the main)

Absolute madness to put something like that on permanent display outside. It was asking for - and found trouble.
