Surprised !

Whilst trying out my new metal detector today, I was quite surprised to have unearthed what looks to be a miss-fired 7.92mm German round.

Unusual, as it turned up not far from my house on British soil ...

The Primer looked to possibly be intact, so for safety purposes this was soaked in oil.

I did a rough check on the codes, and although the casing is 34 (1934) dated, I'm not sure as to the P151 wartime manufacture.

Anyhow a picture of the casing ... (Not to scale)

P151 = RWS Rheinisch-Westfalische Sprengstoff A.G., Werk Nurnberg-Stadeln. (later changed to dnf code from 1941.)

Of course the S* is the code for a Brass case. Number at 6 o'clock is the batch number.

But you probably know all this already
