Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Night hawking is a mugs game. If you haven't got the landowners permission (In England) then don't go detecting there ! It's a simple as that.

Thats what I find very strange about Roman and Celtics coins! (unless they are gold) Some 19th century coins, like from Napoleon I are worth more than the much older Roman coins.
Here's a good one we found last year (Jean le Bon 13th century)
That would be very interesting to see what he has stashed in those boxes!
Ive been detecting since '86, but mainly militaria. But now I also started a collection of other artifacts, as I live in a Cathares area, close to Rennes le Chateau. There is only a few of us here, so I have all the stuff for myself around the villages here. Topday was 82 coins that I found in one vinyard, dating back to the Celts up to the 15 th century, but my best find so far is a silver Cathar ring.
Thise must have been a good day for the chap who dug these up.
My oldest relic (right ear of a 16th century bourgonet):
Thats a nice piece you have there stuka!!
Baught in a pub!!
From a farmer who found it on his field probably a remain of the battle of Eckeren, as it is found nearby the actual cemetery of Ekeren.
I always said I have to surch that area, but my wife wound let me buy a detector.
The only detector I have is a magnet, but a very powerfull one!!
But I haven't tried yet.
