    Ta for posting this Ade.

Further to the news report of it being "believed to be a 250lb Mark 5 British bomb used for target practice", the red band suggests it's actually a British GP bomb with HE filling.

    All the best,

When I was working nearby a few weeks ago, one of the members of staff was telling me how they used to pick up cartridges and even artillery shells on 'The Chase'. The local council are draining the Chase for some reason at the minute and this is why the stuff is being found. Might well be worth a visit with the ol' MD !!

When i was a kid we used to go up the Chase with my dad and pick up dozens of spent bullets and cases, i wonder if it was there? These days Ansons Bank is more notoriously known as the car park where footballer Stan Collymore was caught 'walking his dog'......if you know what i'm reffering to!

Rugeley is about 10 miles SW of the crater at the former RAF Fauld underground bomb store.
