    Hi Dimas,

Not a lot to tell really, this is just one of dozens of airfields that were dotted around our northern part of Australia. This one was bombed a few times by the Japanese, which caught a few USAAF Liberators on the ground, and another couple crashed landed after bombing runs on the Japanese held islands up north.

Most of these airfields were cleaned up after the war, and unfortunately nearly all of the aircraft were cut up and melted down for scrap. However a couple of the remote bases still have quite a bit of stuff laying around still.

If your game, most of these places had ordnance disposal dumps that are still uncovered where unexploded and damaged stuff was dumped. I leave that alone. This airfield still has a lot of Japanese incendiary bombs just laying around!!

    Cheers.

    Great stuff!

That pistol looks like a Webley & Scott, possibly a RAAF aircraft?

I've been to a few publicly unknown wrecks on Cape York and in the Gulf Country so I feel your excitement.

Any chance of PMing me with the name of the airstrip? I research stuff like this for a living and that Jap incendiary ordnance you mentioned has me intrigued.

I don't think people know the extent of wartime relics in Australia. I have found all sorts of things, from SOE issue time pencils through to strip mags off a Japanese woodpecker MG. It's all out here folks.

you just need to know where to look, I'm planning a trip 'round victoria to see some of the less obvious sites. Most are training accidents through.

    should be good fun all-up.
