WW2 RAF Lancaster base - Dump discovered - Finds keep coming

Article about: by Steve T A big buckle off something and a piece of metal that reminds me of a metal MG belt feeder. The stainless steel item is indeed part of a USAAF .50 cal flexible feed chute. by Steve

At last here are the pictures of my finds.

First a bumper clump of anti gas ointment tubes

Stuck in the clump was this paper item?

WW2 RAF Lancaster base - Dump discovered - Finds keep coming

Close to the clump were several triangular pieces of metal, i kept a couple that still had traces of paint. Cleaning revealed the word GAS. Perhaps these are markers to show where anti gas supplies were stashed around the airfield?.

Those brackets certainly look like airframe LS.

Have a quick look at your pistol without the safety clip. I just found some very feint markings on mine that is the same 'type' as yours, where the ridges for the main hand 'grip' end, on that piece of flat bakelite there.

    Love the RAF mug !

That dial does look good. Paul B will be able to ID I bet. My thinking is it's off one of the early radar sets. You got some nice merlin exhaust stub gaskets to.

It's a long shot but here is a picture of an H2S with its accompanying switching unit. There is a dial on the switching unit that looks remarkably similar to yours !

    What do you think ?

I liked this small piece of riveted air frame, still showing its original paint it also seems to have suffered puncture damage.

Mixed finds here, Steve the jar looks like that agar type dish you found would possibly fit as its lid. Its probably medical. There are a couple of electrical fittings and the bakelite lid from a shaving stick. I wonder if the flat brown stick with the hole in could possibly be used for eye tests? If anyone can identify anything please left me know.
