WW2 RAF Lancaster base - Dump discovered - Finds keep coming
Article about: by Steve T A big buckle off something and a piece of metal that reminds me of a metal MG belt feeder. The stainless steel item is indeed part of a USAAF .50 cal flexible feed chute. by Steve

Power Unit Type 301
10K/946
Ground power supply for TR1196
Picture 5A:
10A/10473: backplate for Aerial Tuning knob.
Fitted to Tx unit of the TR9 series of radios.
Picture 8:
The patent numbers refer to 1: small machined flasks and b: electric storage batteries.
Picture 14:
10H/ = Radio Connectors, Discs Indicating, Fuses, Leads, Plugs and Sockets and Ancillary Parts, Holders and Terminals.
5C/ = Aircraft Electrical Items, later subdivided into 5CA/, 5CB/ etc.
Picture 15:
10J/ = Radio Remote Controls
Picture 16:
5C/430 = Block, Terminal, Type B, 2-way.
Picture 17:
5D/610 = Adapter Box, for use with Small Bomb Container.
Basically causes the release mechanism to drop the contents of the SBC, rather than release the whole thing from the bomb rack.
Picture 19:
Remote radio selector unit from the TR9 series.
Will try to do better next time.

Paul B - Many thanks. That's superb information. The dial in picture 15 is really nice. The item in picture 17 is very interesting.
LS - Thanks for the picture. The stuff has come up really well hasn't it ! I have a new theory, in light of the IDs received, that the pile may have been the contents of someones bin, emptied out on what they thought was the dump.
Those big metal 'caps' are really bugging me now......

re: WW2 RAF Lancaster base - Dump discovered - Finds keep coming
Here are some more of my finds.
These are my 3 caps with screws perhaps for electrical contacts, one of mine had a P4 painted inside and another is marked with a lot number?
Just a few of the many signal cartridge bases I found together with a .50 cal.
A mixed bunch of finds, box corner strengthener, the circular item appears to be a dial backing that had a paper face, traces of the paper still exist.
Nicely marked heavy brass stopper, could it be for fuel containers? Its together with two pieces of flexi glass
A nicely marked item for fuses of 5 or 10amp, when found it had the remains of its original red packaging which helped preserve the paper labels. Sadly as they dried the markings disappeared. They said for Sight, Gun, Camera and something else I cant remember now. Wish Id taken a picture to record it when it was first cleaned
Ive found a few of these aero frame type brackets, they're well marked. I was wondering if perhaps they were brackets from a Lancaster bomb bay? if you have any ideas please let me know. The circular alloy item perhaps air skin has a bullet hole.
Close up of some of the bracket markings.
A tube of something, coloured light blue and cream with what looks like a large A or war dept arrow.
Thank you for looking.
