    Hi Mate
Thats certainly an interesting selection of finds covering many years. Quite a lot of it unexpected, some very nice bits and I love your Dads cap badge. Hopefully you'll find out which Regiment it belonged too. Did you see what any of the other MD's found?
Being the end of the runway there must have been a few aircraft that overshot and skidded into that field, most probably loosing pieces as they went.
    All the Best.

I think the badge is the Victorian Officers Martingale Horse Brass Badge, it seems the have the same motif and latin inscription

Nice finds WH. With those spent bullets you couldn't have been far from the airfield at all. Weird skull thingy by the way

Great stuff mate! You blokes are so lucky to be able to find these historic items, I get excited when I find an old hand made nail from a convict building here.

I would love to just go to a random field in Europe and spend a day digging. I'll bet theres at least one kind of Roman, Medieval, WWI, WWII, etc item in every field. There's nothing to find here but Civil War grapeshot. lol

Agreed, I would love to do that also but you should be happy to find your civil war stuff mate, it is still more exciting than a nail!

I did find a few odd bits of alloy that could have come from aircraft but none had any markings on,
I think 1 hammered coin turned up, 1818 shilling, lots of pound coins, Vicky penny/halfpennys, buttons and a few other bits i can't remeber
