Bayonet help again please
Article about: Hi guys,i bought this bayo at yesterdays carboot,having looked around for info it seems to be a Garand?,you cant see from the pics very well but it says 1943 on it along with other markings.

This could be one of the current Chinese repros. I've never seen markings
stamped this poorly. Also, it might simply be the lighting conditions where
it was photographed, but the colour of the scabbard looks off to me.
Another clue is the 'VP' makers mark on the scabbard.
This mark always appears on the backside.
Is it a trick of the lens or is the crossguard on an angle.........?

Hi walkwolf,yes your right about the crossgaurd,it is at an angle which i found strange!?.likewise the sheath is slightly darker than it appears in pic but still looks "off". I didnt pay much at all for it so its no big loss if indeed it is a repro.

Hey thanks walkwolf i think you have just put this case to bed!,now looking at yours im pretty damn certain mines a repro now.I see what you mean with the markings,the sheath,just the whole look of it is wrong.I should of twigged on the crossguard at least!. I paid £10 for it and at the time thought "well one of us is getting ripped off here"..this time it was me lol....nevermind i live n learn.
