Hello! I was hoping I could get some help on this bayonet. I found it at work in a cabinet at our storage facility...quite random! It is in pretty worn condition but structurally sound overall. Blade is about 14" and socket opening about 0.9" wide. There are no visible markings. Thanks for any and all help!

If you stated which country you were located in, that would be a start.

Would be missing at least an inch off the tip of the blade-very few are that short-usually 15-18 inches for an early-mid 19th century bayo-the socket types used in the later 19th century normally have locking rings on the muzzle ring of the bayo. Many different muzzle loading weapons were used by and exported to the US for use in the US Civil War along with their bayos and much of the production was 'commercial' without the usual govt ownership marks usually found on service weapons-from its condition and where it was found, probably an historical curio rather than a collectible weapon type.

Thanks for the help! I figured it would be more of a curio than anything else.
