    Default Bayonet ID help please

I recently acquired an old bayonet and was wondering if anyone had an idea as to what country and what era it is from. Sorry it's not any cleaner but this is as far as I've gotten with the rust. The blade is 9 inches long from tip to prommel and the grips are what looks like smooth black plastic. there are no markings from what I can tell. Thanks from the land of OZ.

Looks like a WW1 Italian Vetterli bayonet to me.

Update: With the rust gone through chemical process, the metal is heavy pitted but there is an "A" stampted on the hand guard side facing towards the tip with no other markings. And the blade is slightly over 9 inches from tip to hand guard. The blood groove extends to the tip, and looks cut?
