Default Doubt about my grandfather's bayonet or knife

    Hello gentlemen!
I do not know if you can help me. This knife belonged to my grandfather and has the Alex brand ????? (I think that is an Alex Coppel).
My question: It would be a german WW1 bayonet customized to be a knife? - See pictures.
Regards and once again thank you for everything,
    Gustavo

Looks like the bayonet/blade was converted into an all-purpose Trench-knife...We often encounter similar creations among WWI blades, including the shortening of swords into trench-knives...

    Thank you very much!

    For lebus12:
The piece hasn’t a slot and I believe that the cable has been rebuild.

    For bigmacglenn1966:
But do you think is it a German bayonet WW1?

I can only say with a degree of certainty that it's a Mauser Bayonet...The blade has been modified which makes a more specific identification difficult...

Is the other side of the handle and pommel the same or like this K98 bayonet?

Mauser Bayonets were exported to many Central and South American Nations as well...I mention this as I see you're from Brazil, which opens many possibilities as to this knife's true history...
    cheers, Glenn

My opinion: German M1871/84 Bayonet to M1871 Mauser Rifle. See attach.
