I just bought a guard marked Case M3. It is in near mint condition with its corresponding M8 scabbard.
Are there Fake Case M3s out there and what are the telltale signs its fake?

All I can tell you is yes there are fakes. People need pictures.
Finishes and manufacturing techniques, as well as scabbard fittings
will not be the same as originals. As said, photos are required !
The price for an excellent condition US M3 knife can be quite high
today so depending where it was purchased and how much
was paid, this could also be a factor - but it is possible to
find near-mint examples of these fighting knives.

I just bought one a couple of weeks back. Near mint conditon Case M3 Knife with an M8 Scabbard (Belt Loop Type). I have compared it to the newer Camillus M3 repops and construction techniques are different. The one I bought has the non-MRT brown leather with no plastic washers and propper peening on pommel. The Case markings and M3 are correct. Blade has never been sharpened. There are however drag marks from being pulled from the scabbard. The scabbard has the requisite VP mark in the right spot and on the bottom of one side of the throat lips is a B/N /6 which means a fairly early scabbard. It has the small hole in the tip and there is a leather thong attached.
I purchased this "M8" knife at a gunshow. Dude didnt know. LOL
Now here is the question. Has there been a small cache of Case M3 knives released to the public.
There are pictures in this vein now.
Im pretty sure noone ground down a Blade marked Kinfolks M3 then added metal and finally reformed the blade and parkerizing to maked this a guard marked Case. Right swordfish?
The Case M3 above, appears to be a nice original unissued example.
Regards,
Steve.
