Hi Steve, it is a WW1 German private purchase trench knife.

It still has a value, even without the scabbard. But I could only guess at a price.

Just out of interest have you any idea what sort of scabbard a knife like this would have. When i found it it was in an ill fitting leather one that was obviously a lot more modern.

I am looking to sell due to the fact that i have 4 small children so its locked away in my shed all the time, and i am sure there is someone out there who would appreciate it more.

    Regards.

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,
I believe that this would have come with a blued steel scabbard with a short leather belt loop with hilt strap.

I can safetly say there was no such scabbard in the shed where i found it. It does make me wonder what its story is though and how it managed to find its way into my grandads shed ( I also recovered a spitfire mk1 fire button and two british ww2 watches) looking back there was probably even more military stuff but being only 15 at the time never realised.

Hi Steve, Matt has given you the correct info.

I am certain the knife would sell with ease. They are always collectable.

    Cheers, Ade.
