    50's and into the 60's.
They are available on E-bay for around $75 to $100 for nice examples.
Yours is a 'nice' one, and they are very collectable - I even have a couple !

Not military though, these are worn with traditional costume in Finland.

There are two inscriptions on the blade, Made In Finland, interestingly in English, and the other, in the groove. Do you know what the other inscription says?

It is probably the commonly seen 'Isakkii Jarvenpaas', the makers name.
The company started making knives in 1879. This type of 'horse-head'
puukko were probably tourist souvenirs I think, as this is the type
    usually seen in North America.

It is/was a tradition to give these knives as gifts, and it is likely almost
everybody in Finland owns at least one of these knives.

I think I have four at the moment. When I was a wee lad back in the '60's,
I found a miniature (3" overall) while digging around in my mothers
flower garden, which I still have........

This is probably why, I suppose, they are one of my favorite knives !

    Regards, Steve.

This is Iisakki Jarvenpaa puukko knife from Kauhava, Finnish "puukko making capitol". Says "Iisakki Jarvenpaa Kauhava" on the blade. Nice looking horse head puukko.

saw your post while researching finnish puukko knives. we used to have one like it in the family before we migrated to Australia in the 70's .for sentimental reason I would be interested to purchase it from you if you are thinking of selling it.
