Hmm, not sure about this one. It looks Imperial German WW1, as you said. But for WW1 it looks pretty "new" looking. I'm not that good with sabers/swords, so I would wait until another person evaluates it.
It looks like a church item or a fraternal oranization type of sword. I am not a sword guy, so I am only speculating.
It is a Masonic sword. It's missing the chain that runs from the pommel to the crossguard.
$140 is about the going rate for something like this............
Regards,
Steve.
I thought it might be Masonic but was not sure if they reference St. John in the rites. Definitely did not look like any military sword I have seen. I hope heƱmnutty did not pay too much for it.
Even if it is worth 140 dollars, I wouldn't pay that much for it.
just sold 1 for $50 at a flea mkt. ,,never buy another one
Hello-I would think this is a dress sword for the Knights of St John Hospitallers-the St John's Ambulance of British C'wlth countries. Note the Maltese Cross on the scabbard, symbol of the knights.
I think it is a Knights of Columbus sword,my dad had one very simmilar to that one.
