French "M 1916" "Avenger"
Hi, mates !
Wanna show you a french combat knife, aka, "Le Vengeur de 1870"
This "Couteau Poignard Mle 1916" was in military use in the French Army till 1939.
In 1940, after the "Western Campaign", the Wehrmacht captured such pattern knives and used them as "Dolch 116 (f)" furthermore.
After the war huge stocks of Wehrmacht fighting knives, (PUMA´s, Dutch "Stormdolk´s", and, also, the "Vengeur"), were found in Norway.
Several makers manufactured the "Vengeur":
Le Vengeur de 1870
Chabrol
L. Pradel
Astier-Prodon
Coutellerie Besset
Pataud
Bourgade
Delaire
Gonon
M
76
Au Lion
The knife, I´m showing in this thread, (here: the 2nd pattern), was manufactured by
"Societe Generale Coutellerie et Orfeverie a´ Thiers".
Overall length: 28,2 cm
Blade length: 16,8 cm
BTW, after WWII the first Swedish Army fighting knife became the “Vengeur” !

Thx !
I left this knife in the condition, I received it yrs ago !
I´m not a friend of "cleaning" and polishing" !
Only some drops of oil for the blade, two bottles of beer for myself, and, well done !
