Help needed to identify german bayonet

Article about: Can any Forum member help to identify this German bayonet. The scabbard is marked on the metal throat: 140.R.8.245. The bayonet is stamped on one side in three lines: WEYERSBERG / KIRSCHBAUM

    Can any Forum member help to identify this German bayonet.

    The scabbard is marked on the metal throat: 140.R.8.245.
    The bayonet is stamped on one side in three lines:
    WEYERSBERG / KIRSCHBAUM & C?? / SOLINGEN

    And on the reverse side: A 'Crown' over 'DANZIG'

    On the back of the blade is stamped: A 'Crown' over 'W' over '89'. Below this a 'Crown' over 'F'.

    Any help or advice will be gratefully received.

    As Bill said this is the first model known as S 84/98 aA converted from the S 71/84 ,info is from The German Bayonet by John Walter.

    The scabbard marking is a regimental marking.

    140.R.8.245. indicates the 140th Infantry Regiment, 8th Company, weapon number 245
