    It could be some unit stamp, the germans normally didnt stamp unit on pommels. b.r.Andy

    I'd agree with the general lack of pommel stamps on German captured bayonets. The few I have with added numbers are stamped elsewhere, like the edge of the grips, ricasso or frog stud.
