Regarding the picture of the two carbines, the bottom one is a Snider-Enfield Artillery carbine, breech loader. They were very popular with wild pig hunters in the New Zealand bush right up until the 1970's. Stopped a charging boar cold. Note the side mounted bayonet lug, same as the P1853 and could fit the Lancaster bayonet, though the Snider had it's own sword bayonet.
