I got this recently and noticed it's marked '44' and had Russian writing above it. Could it be a ww2 Czech made Bayonet? I have the whole set w/ frog, scabbard and cleaning kit. Thanks.

Not Czech, and not in my primary area(s) - I believe that it is Yugoslavian. And the Cyrillic writing might translate to something like "Factory (#) 44". But that is just what I seem to recall at the moment. FP
ah, thanks guys! just after the war I guess.

For me it seems like serbian writing and it's quite like to be for the serbian mauser !
Great post gents!! I will move this to the bayonet forum,, for further comments.

Frogprince is absolutely correct: M48 bayonet, Serbian writing says "Factory 44" made for Yugoslavian Mauser rifle 1948.
The grooves on the grips are a craft job.
By "craft job", what do you mean exactly? Thanks again gents.
This is a normal Yugoslavian M48 Bayonet - has a label - Preduzeće 44 - Factory 44, produced in Kragujevac.
Produced in 1949. - 1965.
Handles are original (someone was banging on them), but the whole bayo is in poor condition.)
