My Personal War Souvenirs

Hello All,
Thought I would share some of the Argy "souvenirs" I brought back from the Falklands in 1982 where I served as a rifleman/ sniper in the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment.
The Items I picked up at Goose Green and Wireless Ridge we were the only Battalion to fight in two battles.
They cosist of the following;
1, An officers sword (Same style as the German Issue)
2, Two FAL FN Bayonets
3, Two 1909 Machettes (We called them trench swords)
4, A 1909 pat Bayonet (I got this from an Argy Sniper who was using an old Mauser)

Well done Sir, Lovely pick ups! I couldn't bring much back from Iraq, though got an Iraqi Uniform. They seemed to have cracked down on the bringing back of military equipment as souvenirs.

Amazing collection there! - but what nitwit would bring a ceremonial sword to an active war zone? - no wonder the Argies lost so heavily.

There were quite a few swords over there one officer was seen to be waving his around mor e for morale an rallying the men he commands than a practical weapon.......did not do them much good anyway.

Hi ! As an argentine, I feel a huge sorry about this, but, taking away my personal feelings, from the historic poing of view, you have a great collection there.
Could you please tell us more about that sabre (it isn´t a "sword"), where did you get it (in the battlefield or after the surrender) or any detail... I would love to rebuild the history and to know to who belonged.

Lithgow, please don´t underestimate argentine forces, Mr Jim can give us more details, but they showed great bravery and patriotic decision to defend the islands after 60 days living in flooded fox holes, many of them with poor traingin and hungry because of brit air control who make almost impossible to get them food or supplies from the continent.
