Need Information

I have this bayonet that I have been unable to locate any information on what rifle it was for and what time period it's from. Here are some images of the bayonet itself. The only markings on it are on the crosspiece there is a serial number 2A 879. Any help would be appreciated.

Italian Carcano bayonet, I believe. Late 1800's, to the end of the Second World War. I do not know the target age of this, but someone will be able to tell you.

1891 Carcano bayonet. Scabbard should have a maker/date stamp. Rich A. in Pa.
