    I have one identical to the lower of the two, with about an inch more blade though this is still shorter than it should be. I think its British about 1870s for the Martini-Henry .... But thats only an ameteur guess....Anyone help us out? Ill post a pic soon.

    Hi guy`s , these are French bayonets , the lower one being a Chassepot bayonet manufactured to fit the Chassepot rifle dated from approx. 1866 onwards and the top example is an Mle. 1886/35 issued with the Lebel rifle also fitting the Mannlicher Berthier 1916 rifle

    Is yours broken too, maybe the design wasnt too good?

    Thanks Alan, I was way off the target as usual.

    Hi Jan, yes, the blade on mine is broken and not just shortened, I dont know why this is! Maybe broken in surrender?

    I beleive many were cut during WW1 to make trench knives, but these look broken rather than purposly cut.

    This is my only Bayonet of this time
