    Default US 1917 Eddystone Bayonet

Given to me recently as a gift. A US 1917 Eddystone Bayonet with original scabbard.

Stamped with the 1917 over the Remington (circle) manufacturer's mark. Along with the U.S. ordanance logo on the reverse plus eagle head. Date on this one is 1920. Includes an 'X' test mark or whatever it was.

Scabbard is marked with 'GK' and 'JVK'. If anyone understands what the scabbard marks are in reference to, please let me know.

GK is possibly Gratton & Knight Company - makers of leather equipment for the US forces.

Not sure on the other one.

    Thanks Richie.

Yes. Forgot to say that the scabbard is leather made, rather than fibreglass.

The other marking is probably a US Government inspector's mark.

Is it perhaps UVK ? - as seen on this bayonet.

    Richie.

Thanks for pointing that out. You're indeed correct, it actually reads UVK.

The links you supplied were really useful.
