What is a "Jeanette"

Found thise at a flee market ! Not cheap but there wasn't anything else...

I don't know about the name, but as I'm sure you know it is a WWI battles souvenir letter opener, I used to have one for Ypres. The name might be the maker as a guess. Good item and I wish I had kept the one I had.

I do know those "Ypres" marked bajo's, but they are almost 3 times smaller.
Also never saw one in its box.

The one I had was only a bit smaller than the one you have shown, though it was not in a box as you mention.

I was just informed on a French forum, that "Jeanette" was the nick name given to they're bayonet by Belgian trooper's. The French "poilus" called it "Rosalie".
So I was told.

It looks to be of very good quality.
I remember, that we could buy miniature Garand bayonets as sold by the military, but they were just cheap tat compared to the look of this one.

As far as I know it was a tradition, a weapon factorys (manufactures) were making mini-bayos on a jubily of some kind. For dear guests an so on. Nice one. I use to have a mini cz.24... still biting my elbows.

Ive never seen a miniature bayonet of this quality before (daggers yes, not bayonets though), but I want one!
