Whats the deal with this design?
Ok, So i've got these two pieces & I have seen a number of other knives and bayonets with a similar or exactly the same kind of (DIY?) handle - was this simply a well known way of making more ergonomic handles or trench art? (put the pictures of the cut off Italian bayonet's makers marks - just if anyone is interested & the frog/scabbard are both Italian design as well, the scabbard being 1891 and IDK for the frog)
These are typical "trench art" blades. Typically made by soldiers behind the front lines if I am correct from spare parts and access to machine tools. Plexi glass was a favorite.
I know there is a thread on the forum somewhere with many of them. Will look for it.
