    For Mosin Nagant M44 carbine.
The same system was used postwar for the SKS Simonov and by the Chinese for their M56 AK assault rifle.

1st pattern/model of the m/44 folding bayo, replaced just after WW2 by the 2nd pattern, which would explain why it's not on the weapon anymore as it 's not intended to be removed from the carbine!

1st pattern-no cam on the swivel end of it for quick fixing on rifle in one movement which was the chief modification to the design postwar.

It could be from a Chinese Type 53 Mosin Nagant carbine. The wartime Russian ones serviceable but a little on the crude side (in the way that they were manufactured). I've had both types, with the postwar Russian ones much better in the way that they were made, and IMO the Chinese (made on Russian machinery that was given to them after they had switched over to the SKS) exhibiting a really well done standard of manufacturing. That also had a remarkable degree of accuracy for a carbine. Best Regards, Fred

Yes is the second Modell. Can you make out any stamps?

This modell was also made by Poland and Hungary.

With only 3 groves at the sides i think this is a polisch made M44 (the russians have 4)

here pics of a polish one with polish markings
