WWI ERA GERMAN BAYONET, What is this and what is it's value?

I have this bayonet which so far I have been told is a WWI or post 1918 / post WWI era. I have photos. Does anyone know exactly what this is, where it might have been used, by whom, and what it might be worth? Thanks so much!

That is a German Kurzes Seitengewehr 98.

Manufacturer - E & F Horster - made in 1913 - from the stamp on the back of the blade.

Originally issued to a German colonial troops, airship crews and telegraphists.

The design was used as the basis for private purchase bayonets and trench knives.

Can't help on value as I am a bit out of touch with prices.

Richie, is absolutely correct ! this type of bayonet is often referred to by some collectors/dealers, as a private purchase Officers bayonet !

The one you illustrate was quite probably issued in WW1 as it was made in 1913 and is definitely an issue model as it has military inspection stamps.

Very similar designs were also available for private purchase - often by officers when they stopped carrying swords in the trenches.

From the look of the blade, there is likely no scabbard - which will
affect it's value somewhat. It is in 'fair' condition.........

Understood. Long story short, I bought it for $150 and am looking to either keep it or sell it, dependent upon if I made a great deal or not. I like it, and I'd love to keep it.
