57er Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille.
Gentlemen, my latest addition to my 1957 medal collection.....a Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille....
The Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille (German Olympic commemorative Medal) was established to recognize service in connection with the preparation work and execution of the game events, the medal was not restricted to German nationals.
The 1957 version which omits the swastika in its design, was authorised by the German federal government as a replacement decoration which still exists, and can be worn as a civil decoration.
I would imagine this to be a St u L made and as it is quite heavy and the width of the medal quite thick, indicate, that it could be an early made piece.
