Gentlemen......My Order of Merit, Commander class (Verdienstorden, Grosse Verdienstkreuz), a neck worn medal, this example by Steinhauer & Luck of Ludenscheid, was made in the 1970's. I use three of the sellers photographs, they are much better than mine ! This award can be explained here at length... Großes Verdienstkreuz | Ordensmuseum.de I currently have the award displayed on my Heeresfleiger Oberst Gala jacket.
    Enjoy !
    Prost ! Steve.

Harry, there is no accounting for taste...... lol
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think it of a typical German traditional design, much like the KvK ,PLM and a host of Imperial medals all with Maltese Crosses.....
    Prost ! Steve.
