Default BW Heer Officers mess jacket......

In 1972 the early first model of the Gala jacket, the "Zweitaschenrock" (see here for more info.. Named Army Officers uniforms. posts 1 & 2) was replaced by a new model the "Gesellshaftsanzug" a new short jacket suit in black worn with bow tie, cummerbund, white dress shirt (hidden buttons) and satin striped trousers (civilian monkey suit style) this uniform was worn without any form of hat.....orders/awards could be worn either full size or miniature, or indeed a combination of both......this uniform is still worn today in all branches of the BW.....the cut reminds of the wartime Luftwaffe mess uniforms...on mine there are current BRD awards, two "Bundesverdienstkreuz", first class pinned to left chest and Commanders Cross around the neck al'a RK ! The tunic I show is for an Heeresflieger (Army Air Corps) "Oberstleutnant of the Reserve" (indicated by coloured twists on shoulder straps), he is displaying on his right chest the "Militarluftfahrzeugfuhrer" pilots wings....note the private purchase cuff links, with custom Heeres flieger emblem (Black background for Heer, blue background for Luftwaffe).
On his left lapel are four miniatures for current medals, "Ehrenkreuz der Bundeswher" Gold and Silver class, followed by a silver grade BW Proficiency badge and the BRD Sports badge, again a Silver grade. All in all a nice tunic that displays well...hope you like it !
    Prost ! Steve.

"The German Army is the perfectly adapted, perfectly running Machine. The difference is that the Germans are organised with a view to War...with the cold, hard, practical and business-like purpose of winning victories."
