Default The "Casinojacke" BW White summer tunics.

In the Bundeswehr a white summer tunic, the so called "Casinojacke" was authorised for wear by Officers only, between 1963-73, it sported slip on shoulder boards, and regulations stated no other insignia or awards were to be worn upon the jacket, all of its buttons were removable for cleaning purposes, held on by a split ring, and there was a cleaning instruction label, sewn on the inside of the left breast pocket area. They look at first glance to be from the TR period as they are very similiar in appearance...sporting pleated patch pockets and double cuffs. All these tunics were fitted with removable inner shoulder pads, held on by press studs.
However, as in all Armies, regulations were made to be broken ! and collar patches, arm shields and medal bars it seems were worn.....I have two such jackets, a regulation style Generals ranked "Brigadegeneral" tunic and a Infantry Lt Oberst tunic, which has removable collar patches, held on with tiny press studs and an attached armshield, bullion variety, he has also attached a longish ribbon bar, by inserting straight through the material, no loops (I must find a suitable 57er bar)...I suspect this insignia could be quickly removed if top brass came a visiting ! also this tunic has been altered to the fashion of the day, by having its double cuffs removed as post 1970 Officers jackets, obviously a fashion concious Oberst ! these tunics were no longer worn after 1973.
    Prost ! Steve.
