I have come across this badge, according to the owner it is a third reich badge. I have never seen this before. Can anyone shed any light on it?

No, this is not Third Reich. It is West German
Cheers, Ade.
Ade is correct. Bundeswehr. I have seen it described as a proficiency badge as well as a sports badge??
Thomas
It's correct title is Das Abzeichen für Leistungen im Truppendienst. It was awarded from October 29th 1980.
It comes in three grades, Bronze, Silver & Gold.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi guys, sorry to resurrect this old thread, but what do I have here? Is this a Bundeswehr badge, or is it Weimar Era? The pin back looks a little different, the face of the eagle looks a little different, and it's black, which doesn't seem to be have been offered in the BRD. It certainly looks old, but could it just as well be a very poorly cared for early BRD badge?
Same badge, just it has been lost and buried.
Cheers, Ade.
Gents, Ade is quite right, Bundeswehr proficiency badge, "Leistungsabzeichen" see here for information on this badge... German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia includes information on how to qualify for the badge, Heres a selection.....including, Reservists version, miniture, and repeat variation (10).
Prost ! Steve.
Dang, well, I still like it, and it was pretty cheap. Would there have been different makers for these badges? The face looks really different to me on my badge in comparison to the other Bundeswehr badge. Thanks for the replies gents.
More than likely there were several makers, hence the different dies used.
Cheers, Ade.
