My Bundeswehr and 57er awards collection

Article about: Thanks Steve. I've got a marked Deumer kvk1 on the way. And I'm also following an early Zerstörer-Kriegsabzeichen to keep my minesweeper badge company. Regards

That EK II is a beauty! is the ring marked?
Thanks Steve! It's unmarked. When I get the Deumer, I'll look for the marked ones......

I hope I can pick up some nice items at the militaria fair on Saturday.

    Superb new EK Ingrid!
Thanks Adrian! These frosty S&L EKs are addictive, I need to put my mind on a Deumer EK2 now.

    What a beauty.
    Thank you Stefan!

Wiederholungsspange für das EK1. This frosty example came from ebay.
The seller had several early 57ers for sale, but this is the only one I could capture.

This shield arrived today. It came from a respected dealer, on his site it was described as an early 57 piece. It's a very early piece IMO! I think I have a wartime Narvik shield that has been denazified.

Nick....a very nice Narvik shield, it looks to be a Navy gold coloured one, Silver being for Army/Luftwaffe ...I must get more of these shields, I have what I believe to be early Krim version (see below), it to has 4 prongs...although the jury is out when determining what is early and what is late, some say 3 prongs, others 4 ! as for yours being a de-nazified one..the 57er shields are smaller at about two thirds the size of their WW2 brothers, so the producers, more likely or not St u L had to produce new dies for the 57er awards....The other down side of these shields are that they appear to be of a curio type standing, i.e. they were not authorised for wear in either the Bundeswehr or Police....only as miniatures on ribbon bars. I have never seen them worn in any period photographs, so perhaps veterans just wanted to "own" them, having won them in the first place !...they also came as is yours with no backing plate or uniform cloth...unlike the WW2 versions.
    Prost ! Steve.

Thanks Steve! Great looking Krim shield you've got there.

I also believe 4 prongs is the earliest. Though some say the use of 3 or 4 prongs is due to different manufacturers. Either way collectors seem to agree that the examples with dark soldering on the back are the more modern crap.

    Regards

Is Steve the only one interested???

    Nope, I'm interested too!

Can you measure the size of your Narvik Schild to see if it's a de-nazified version or an actual '57er?

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

In hand it looks silver coloured, the pics came out differently.

    Thanks Adrian.

    Width: +- 37,5 mm
    Lenght: +- 65 mm

I used a normal ruler, can't find my professional measuring tool at the moment.

    Regards
