My Bundeswehr and 57er awards collection

Article about: Thanks Steve. I've got a marked Deumer kvk1 on the way. And I'm also following an early Zerstörer-Kriegsabzeichen to keep my minesweeper badge company. Regards

Without meaning to hijack Ingrid's thread, isn't that the 'A' type core Glenn?

I think so Adrian, the A core, B frame.

I'm really not versed on the 57 awards, I just know I couldn't afford a TR RK so to complete my EK display I had to go 57er.

Here is my newest addition, an early minesweeper badge from the maker S&L. It's in worn condition with nice patina.

    Comments welcome.

    Ingrid,
Pardon my lack of knowledge but what exactly does 57er mean? Are they replacement decorations worn by the Germans after the war without the swastika?

    Thanks
    Burt

After WWII the swastika was banned, but veterans still wanted to wear their hard earned decorations in public. So the TR design of awards was put in a 'new form'. They are exactly the same as the TR version, but without the swas. This new form came out in 1957 according to the law of the ordensgesetz.

Early pieces have the same craftmenship like the wartime pieces and were meant for veterans only. Some are even more rare then their TR counterparts. Therefore highly collectible.

The late pieces were meant for feeding the collectorsmarket.

If something I said is incorrect or someone wants to add information, please do comment.

    Regards
