Great idea Tom ! I know have around a dozen tunics, spanning the 60's, 70's 80's 90's and the 21st century.....I have shown a few in other threads, however I make no apology if I duplicate them here on this dedicated tunic thread, which I will make a "Sticky".
I think a brief inroduction of Dress tunics is in order to put "flesh on the bones" .....so to speak.
The first generation dress tunic were the so called "Affenjacke" 1955-1957, a short double breasted dark grey tunic, two versions, Officers/NCO version had 8 buttons (4 each side) and 2 lower slash style pockets, whilst the EM's version was somewhat shortened with 6 buttons (3 on each side), no lower pockets. These jackets are becoming rare...and can sell from between £150-£300 ! these jackets were short lived and in 1958 the second generation tunics were launched, these being the instantly recognisable BW tunic design of today, i.e. the 4 pocket, grey, 4 button. open necked jacket. However there were variations of these tunics upto 1970, when the tunic design and colour became standardised. I hope to show these variations as I post and discuss during the next few weeks. I show an affenjacke (which I sadly do not own, I NEED TO FIND ONE !) and its wear by an early fallschirmjager company (note the early para qualification clasps) in the accompanying photographs.
    Prost ! Steve.

Gents, here I show a 1988 dated Senior Panzer NCO's service tunic, notice the "Alt Gold" piping around the coller, this piping was applied to all Senior NCO's tunics from Feldwebel to Oberstabsfeldwebel, notice also the yellow lanyard on right shouder/arm, this signifies the rank "Speiss" an honoury title for the Senior NCO in the Company (Company Sgt Major) usually resposible for Company administrative duties, roll calls etc. The tunic is for a "Stabsfeldwebel" of the 6th Panzer Division garrisoned at Neumunster, this Division was subsequently dissolved in September 1997. The tunic sports a silver class "Shutzenschnur" (marksman lanyard), a silver class "Leistungsabzeichen" (BW Proficiency badge) on left breast pocket and a U.S. shooting qualification badge for rifle on lower right breast pocket. Bundeswehr personel were allowed to display/wear upto 2 foreign awards, usually from fellow NATO partners, usually obtained when on attachment. Tunic also displays 2 "Tatigkeitsabzeichen" (BW trade/qualification badges) above the right breast pocket, upper gold one is for "Kompaniefeldwebel" qualification gold class, and lower is for "Raketen-und Flugkorpersonal" missile qualification silver class. The breast hanger on right pocket button signifies current assignment status, this being attached to training staff at the U.K. tank training grounds at Castle Martin South Wales. Being a Senior NCO the tunic displays Officer bullion type coller patches. Hope you enjoy....these tunics are at the moment cheap to obtain, they IMO are undervalued and make a great display.
    Prost ! Steve.

Gents, a 1974 dated jacket, Artillery, (Hoch rot) rank of "Oberfahnrich" (Officer in waiting) attached to "Panzer lehr brigade 9" garrisoned at Munster, he would be part of the Artillery Battalion 325. As an Officer awaiting promotion to Leutnant he is allowed certain priviledges, Officers shoulder boards, silver piping around the coller. The tunic displays loops on left breast pocket for the Deutsches Sports Bund abzeichen, (German sports badge) and the single ribbon bar for the life saving medal. The name tag "Meyer" is a private purchase leather item and worn at this time (mid-70's) at the discretion of the wearer. The tunic displays on left cuff a specialist trade badge for "Wallmeister" (earthenworks, emplacement specialist). It also sports the NCO's "Lurex" type coller patches.

Gents, lets not leave the ladies out, I have two womens service tunics, the medics has already been shown on the "Women in the BW" thread....here is a 1993 dated tunic of a Transport/supply (mid blue arm of service) Gefrieter UA (NCO candidate) of the Logistics Batallion 142 garrisoned at Basepohl (Pomerania) and sports the arm badge of Mechanized Infantry Brigade (Panzergrenadier) 41. She wears the BW Proficiency badge in Bronze and Bronze trade badge for "Technisches Personel"....also a single ribbon bar for participation in the Kosovo campaign. Notice the cut, only two lower boxed pleat pockets, and a tailored to contour the female shape !

And now for something completly different....a Sandfarben Tropical tunic for wear in hot climates, like the southern/western coast of the USA and the Mediteranean, whilst on attachment/training courses with other NATO forces. These tunics first appeared in 1959, the 1st model having loose double cuffs and removable Alt gold buttons....models after 1970 did not have cuffs or removable buttons, infact having silver coloured buttons, they were made of finer material, they are still in use today. This is a 1966 NCO jacket with Alt gold piping around the collar and, as in common with these jackets, removable shoulder boards, type used on the grey service tunics, as post 1963 regulations stated, (earlier pre 1963 wore sand coloured straps) these are for the rank of " Hauptfeldwebel " in a Panzer (Rosa pink) battalion. These tunics did not display a formation arm badge on the left upper arm.
    Prost ! Steve.
