IMO it looks like some other insignia was removed around were the eagle is sewn. Is that brown/tan thread I see? Also the hat seems brighter in color. So the eagle is well worn that appears to be consistent but reapplied. Wait for the experts...just my two cents...
It looks like an artificially aged fake to me...
And to me. The rusty grommets are not correct as they should be made of zinc. A close up of the inside of them would tell all.by Arran

It's a very good bet, if Ben says "it's a fake!" then it IS a fake.
It has been stated that there are problems with the grommets and the insignia appears to have been replaced/changed.
