Dear Colleagues,

I have perused the various threads and what I have learned and my instincts have told me that this is most likely a stinker. HOWEVER, this is completely not my forte, so I just had to make certain.

It was brought into my shop by an older gentleman who "had it since the 1970s" and claims it was given to him by a G.I. who lived in his neighborhood.

All I can say is that it looks like it was made in the 70s. I don't like the chin-cord nor the crazing on the visor. You guys can go ahead and dissect the rest.

Richie, your instincts are correct--it is a BRD visor with added SS insignia.
You may want to run the insignia by the insignia collectors, but I believe they are bad as well.

Your on the money Richie..........a real stinker.
Your observations on the visor are very correct as in my experience this "crazing" effector pattern tends to be found only on the post war visors.
