    Default Allgemeine SS Schirmmutze

Hi guys, here is an interesting cap. It belongs to a friend and i have the chance to buy it for a reasonable price.

The info i have is: a) The cap was a property of a film company.
    b) All parts of the cap are genuine pieces.
    c) Top part and bottom part have been re stitched. Reason? Unknown to me. Maybe the company needed a smaller sized cap?
Any way i would appreciate your comments.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, it looks authentic to me. Not sure why the top cover is so creased and badly fitting though. Maybe it just needs to be re-shaped.
I could help with the restoration if you wish.

I think it is Wille, Hannover, i.e. A1 195. It is a Barrandov special, i.e. of Czech state film fundus. The crown has been crushed, which Ben can easily fix with his magic hands.

A real cap with history to boot.

Thank you FB, I also think a Wille made cap due to the hole through the tag from the button prongs which seems to be a trait of theirs.

These magic hands would very much like to restore this one back to a better condition. The peaks often come loose on black caps due to the very lightweight thread used. It's evident that someone has repaired it before, maybe the studio itself.

Allgemeine SS SchirmmutzeAllgemeine SS SchirmmutzeAllgemeine SS SchirmmutzeAllgemeine SS SchirmmutzeThank you, Ben. In the course of the late 1980s and across the velvet revolution dozens or more of these were tossed onto the market from the film fundus of these great studios.
They are as much part of the story as any other.
The Wille caps do have the splint rammed through the tag quite often. They also often do not have the RZM/SS mark on the peak, too, for some unknown reason.
In any case, the thing is real, and its owner must get in line to find the right badges in the teeth of the berzerk "scull" collectors.
PS this loose "scull" is not mine.
