Article about: Picked this up the other day and would like your thoughts on it . It is 4 3/4" X 2" in size and is made of something like tombak ( spelling ? ) or brass . Trying out a new picture

    Picked this up the other day and would like your thoughts on it . It is 4 3/4" X 2" in size and is made of something like tombak ( spelling ? ) or brass . Trying out a new picture program so please excuse the pictures .

    These were the subject of a long thread on the WAF several years ago, with most leaning that they are all fakes made by a US company called Delta International in the early 1970's.

    still a nice addition to your collection and only the really staunched WW2 geek like myself would ever question the originality of the item, and it looks nice.

    Did they even have metal cap devices ? All I have seen have been wire .

    Have about eight old Delta catalogs.Mention Delta International and you mention fakes galore.

    Yes, metal ones were made. For Diplo, they were used by the lowest ranks (and had a silver finish).
    Some of the GG visors used metal insignia in metal as well, but with a gold finish.
