Randall, one of the most common things done is to take a WH cap, cut away the wool band, and replace it with black velvet, and voila, you have a 30K+ cap.
Wrinkled/saggy velvet is one of the easiest "tells" that the band has been messed with.
Original velvet bands are tightly sewn in place, and have almost no "play" when rubbing the velvet against the pasteboard.
I know of maybe 5 SS Officer Panzer visors that I would consider original--they are that rare.
