Hm... the photos don't enlarge, but what I can see is this: it seems to be an EM/NCO's cap upgraded to an officer's cap with the insigns and the cap cords. The leather visor seems to be a replacement sewn on with quite crude stitches as was the sweatband. Better pictures, esp. interior pics, would help. I don't know why the cap cords were sewn to the cap as well. Question is when and why this was done.

The source said that the stitching on the sweatband was done while in the field....or result of combat but I take that with a grain of salt though possibly true.
Is it time period authentic and worth having in a collection?

I think you have been asked before about naming your title FAKE OR REAL..
Please title your threads something other than "Fake or Real".
Maybe something that would indicate what the thread is about?
