Stonemint & Visor Experts...Can you verify this Feldgendarmerie Officer's Visor okay? Is the Maker Erel and is it later period? No markings. I have tried to look through the thread here but I am not sure about the material color or the eagle. Please give me your opinions as soon as you can.

    Hi Rossi,

that's a tough one. It certainly is not an ErEl. The materials used (esp. for the centerband and the lining) are very unusual (and not late war). I do have a suspicion that it is a well made post-war cap. Hopefully for you the specialists will contradict me.

Thanks! Doing some more digging on my end as I am not real comfortable with it compared to others I have seen. See what and in threads others think.

I would agree with the above. A superfake.

Looks like it is bouncing around--it is in the questionable forum, post #11 from a year and a half ago:

I had my suspicions so thanks for confirming. Learning more and more about visors as I study.

Some components seem OK but the overall appearance seems a bit off. I am always suspicious of a cap with officer braid that is not a well marked, high quality example. I defer to more experienced collectors since Polizei items are not in my collecting area. NH
