I think this side cap could possibly be either:

a) Enlisted M40

b) Luftwaffe M40

c) SS M40

d) I tried but am completely wrong


I understand that this is a pretty generic side cap but any assistance in proper identification is greatly appreciated. Apologies if this ends up not belonging here.

The date is stamped I believe. If it's 1948 it's a post war item. Might even be for another country. There isn't much to say on this cap. Best regards
